Acting for the Camera
Course Description:
Acting for the Camera introduces students to the principles and techniques of various performance methods in acting for television and motion pictures. The course consists of on camera performance, scene creation and script analysis. On camera physical and vocal approaches are also explored. Students work will be filmed and critiqued as well. Students are asked to have a prepared monologue.
Course Objective:
A) To explore and learn techniques required to act in the medium of film, commercial and television.
B) To develop in the student the discipline required for a compelling on camera performance.
D) To deconstruct a grounded on camera performance and apply those techniques in practice.

Ryan Hope Travis
Ryan has extensive on-set experience as an actor and filmmaker. He has been featured in numerous independent films, 3 nationally syndicated guest star performances and 1 national commercial. For his onstage work, he was recently nominated “Best Actor in a Play” by Broadway World, 2018.
As an educator, Ryan has over 9 years of university teaching experience. He taught acting and other theatre courses at Syracuse University, Colgate University, and the University of Florida, among others.
